What qualifications do your staff members possess?

All of our staff, working with children, have the state mandated 45 hours of training. Many of our staff also hold a CDA credential (Child Development Associate) or Associates degree in education. Yes, ALL staff members are screened locally, through the state and through the F.B.I.

How do you ensure the safety of the children while in your care?

Monarch Children's Academy takes the safety of its children seriously. In addition to a computerized clock in/out system, which includes a personalized code to each family, Monarch Children's Academy staffs its front desk with a receptionist at ALL times. This practice not only ensures that each individual who enters the building is properly identified, but also helps us get to know each family.

How are the children placed into classrooms at your Center?

At Monarch Children's Academy, we place children in classrooms based on chronological age. Each classroom serves a specific age grouping of children, and children are moved into classrooms accordingly. We understand that developmental stages do not always parallel the chronological age of some children, so this is also considered when children are placed in classrooms. Our age cut-off for our three-year-old and four-year-old classrooms follow the public school cut-off date of September 1.

Does Monarch Children's Academy offer outdoor play areas?

Yes, we offer separate playground areas for each age of children we serve. Each playground is designed to meet the developmental and physical needs of the age group it serves. Our playgrounds provide ample space for our staff to provide additional activities and materials (i.e. parachute, painting easel, kites) each week, according to the unit they are studying.

Does your center follow a curriculum?

Monarch Children's Academy follows the High Reach Curriculum in all of our classrooms, from infants through Pre-kindergarten. High Reach is a developmentally appropriate curriculum which follows monthly themes and activities. Our teachers use this curriculum to write monthly and weekly lesson plans which are followed in each classroom.

Is Monarch Children's Academy a VPK Provider?

Yes, we have been a VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) Provider since the start of the VPK program during the 2005-2006 school year. We provide VPK for children who turn four-years-old on or before September 1 of the upcoming school year. VPK is a state funded program which offers children 540 hours of Pre-K during the school year. We offer several part-time classrooms, and full-time classrooms with wrap-around care.
